The PADI Rescue Diver Course is one of the most rewarding and challenging courses in recreational scuba diving. During this training you will learn how to prevent, recognise and manage diving emergencies both underwater and on the surface.
The course focuses on improving your situational awareness, confidence and problem-solving skills, turning you into a more responsible and capable diver.
You will practice real rescue scenarios, learn self-rescue techniques and develop the skills needed to assist divers in distress.
Rescue Diver Course Structure
The Rescue Diver course combines theory sessions, practical rescue exercises and in-water training scenarios.
During the course you will learn how to:
✔ Recognise and manage stress in other divers
✔ Perform self-rescue techniques
✔ Assist tired or panicked divers
✔ Rescue unconscious divers
✔ Coordinate emergency response procedures
✔ Manage realistic rescue scenarios in open water
Training is conducted in small groups with experienced PADI instructors to ensure safe and effective learning.
Emergency First Response (EFR)
The course also includes Emergency First Response (EFR) training, which teaches essential life-saving skills such as CPR and basic first aid.
EFR training includes:
✔ CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
✔ Rescue breathing and chest compressions
✔ Drowning response techniques
✔ Bandaging and wound care
✔ Illness and injury assessment
✔ Emergency action planning
EFR certification is valid for two years and is required for many professional diving courses.
If you already hold a valid first aid certification from another recognised organisation, it may be accepted depending on PADI requirements.

✔ Must hold PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification or equivalent
✔ EFR First Aid certification required (can be completed during the course)
